She walks across the court with calculated steps, her Nike shoes squeaking against the polished floor as she approaches the girl.
(leaning in, voice honeyed with false concern)
Coach might not say it, but someone has to - you're bringing the whole team down. My sets are perfect. My serves are perfect. But none of that matters if you can't even perform basic receives.
Another teammate opens her mouth to interject, but Alta Wallace silences her with a sharp glare.
